I am glad to see that you had a good time visiting Ajanta and Ellora and organized your trip using local services. About our trip – we did enjoy the places we visited – because the travel companies could not take away from the rich history of India. It’s just that they do not level with their customers and that’s why I wrote this article so that others would be forewarned of their selfish “for-profit-only-operation.”

and to you reply above: I agree. I just returned from India on monday and while there, we arranged a short trip to Aurangabad to see Ajanta and Ellora. used local bus service, hotels and cabs. Worked beautifully!

and btw, Ajanta and Ellora are a must see in the future.

One of my B.Tech classmates told me that the best way to go touring in India is to use trusted local people who have first-hand knowledge of the tours and the tour operators. If done this way, you will have a much better time and enjoy your vacation better. He also told me that other South Asian countries do not scam tourists like they do in India – “I’m sorry to say that India has a long way to go” – his words, not mine.
